High Hops just released a craft “30 rack” of its Colorado Craft Lager

(Windsor, CO) – High Hops Brewery have released a 30 pack of their Colorado Craft Lager, The Cold One, making it the first craft beer box of its kind. Available as of February 18, 2018, you can now see it on the liquor store shelves cozied up next to the other 30 packs from big beer names like Budweiser and Coors.

The Cold One comes in at an easy-drinking 5.2% alcohol by volume, and has a refreshingly light, crisp body while still maintaining high-quality craft flavors. Inspired by the Colorado lifestyle, The Cold One’s 12oz cans can be enjoyed during any occasion, whether it’s grilling and gardening in the back yard, or enjoying the great outdoors on the rivers, lakes, or slopes.

The Cold One is a great transition beer for those who enjoy lagers and other light beers, but want to support local, independently-owned breweries. Beer Institute estimates domestic tax paid shipments by beer brewers for January 2018 down 5.8%

(Washington, DC) – Today, the Beer Institute published an unofficial estimate of domestic tax paid shipments by beer brewers for January 2018:

The January 2018 estimate is 12,167,000 barrels, a decrease of 5.6% versus January 2017 removals of 12,889,000. Please note that the estimates reflect revised estimates released by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).

Four Corners Brewing rolls out in Houston with Silver Eagle Distributors

Dallas-based craft brewery partners with Silver Eagle Distributors to increase reach in Houston market

(Houston, TX) – Four Corners Brewing Co. has signed a distribution deal that expands its reach in the Houston market. The Dallas-based brewery has partnered with local distributor, Silver Eagle Distributors, to officially roll-out its line-up of products in the bayou city.

Braxton Labs New Zealand Imperial IPA bottle release set for March 10th

This project highlights Braxton Labs’ continued innovation and experimentation. This is the first packaged Imperial IPA that Braxton Brewing Company has released since Tropic Flare in early 2017. This 10.1% bold, Imperial IPA also features a light, yet complex malt bill that provides balance without allowing caramel or malt sweetness to get in the way.

Braxton Labs was born to capture the spirit of the garage where Braxton Brewing Company started. Located in Newport, Kentucky, the brewery and taproom are dedicated to innovation and creativity.

Yuengling Beer available in Kentucky on draft starting next week, in stores the week after

This Friday, we’re releasing our latest batch of Noble King Hoppy Farmhouse Ale. Noble King is one of the oldest beers we make, and is inspired by the hoppy pale beers from small producers in Europe like Thiriez, De Ranke, and De la Senne. Dry, bitter, with some interesting yeast complexity is what we aspire to with Noble King.

Noble King is testament to the versatility of mixed culture fermentation. When we commit beer brewed with little hops to oak barrels for months or years, it develops a pronounced acidity. But when we ferment for just weeks in stainless steel with a lot of hops, the acidity is kept at bay, and the beer is dry and bitter. For those who know us well, they recognize that we’re just as passionate about the hoppy pale beers of Belgium and France as we are about the barrel aged, wild ales. Noble King is firmly rooted in the former category. We hope you enjoy!

Noble King will be released at Jester King on Friday, March 2nd at 4pm. It was brewed on December 6th and 7th, 2017 and packaged on February 6th and 7th, 2018. It is 5.8% alcohol by volume, 41 IBU, 4.52 pH, and 1.002 specific gravity. It will be available by the glass and in bottles to go (750ml/$13). We anticipate distribution of this beer.

Sebago Brewing opens new brewery, tasting room and HQ in Gorham, Maine

Gorham, ME – Less than a year after breaking ground, Sebago Brewing Co. (SBC) opened its new destination brewery to the public this week. Located on Lower Main Street in Gorham, the 30,965-square-foot building is now home to SBC’s brewery, tasting room and headquarters.

The new brewery has four times the capacity of their former facility and can brew 5,000 gallons of beer in four batches per day. The increased capacity will help keep up with demand – the company has been trending at over 24 percent growth.

In addition to the four vessel and 40 BBL brewhouse, Sebago will feature new pilot brewhouse with a 7-barrel mash tun, 5-barrel kettle. According to Tom Abercrombie, Brewmaster at SBC, the pilot system will give them the flexibility to do small batches for both R&D and for fun!

“We look forward to collaborating with all sorts of people from different areas of our own company, as well as with friends in the industry,” said Abercrombie. “It will also allow us to make small batches for barrel aging, and ultimately blending, for unique beers we’ve never made before.”

Scheduled tours of the new brewery will begin and end in the tasting room, which will eventually feature 16 taps of Sebago’s standard, seasonal, and specialty brews. Along with beer samplers and flights, guests can enjoy wood fired pizza, sandwiches and entrees, all focused on locally sourced ingredients.

Sebago Brewing co-founders Kai Adams, Brad Monarch and Tim Haines are most excited about bringing the brewers and the public back together through the tasting room and brewery tours.

“Years ago as pub brewers, our customers were closer to the origin of production,” said Adams, vice president of SBC. “Once again, the public can see the brewers, meet the people making it, drink it, and buy it fresh to go – all at the same location.”

Currently, the destination brewery will be open Sunday-Wednesday from 11:00am-9:00pm, and Thursday-Saturday from 11:00am-10:00pm. There will be several free brewery tours every day, and visitors can sign up in the tasting room. Sebago Brewing Company continues to embrace change and innovation, but one thing has not changed: the beloved brewpub in the Gorham Village will remain a local favorite.

1220 Artisan Spirits: 4 Hands Brewing Co. to debut spirits line following record 2017 growth

1220 Will Launch with Similar Commitment to Local Market

(St. Louis, MO) – After a year of record growth in 2017, 4 Hands Brewing Co. will celebrate its 6th anniversary by launching 1220 Artisan Spirits this spring. Led by owner Kevin Lemp, the team will expand the company’s portfolio with the release of Origin, a year-round New American Gin as well as a 1220 tonic.

The St. Louis-based craft brewery first began in 2011, producing 1,600 barrels of beer. By 2016, 16,300 barrels were produced to meet demand- propelling the craft brewery to a regional brewery as defined by the Brewers Association. In 2017, the 4 Hands Brewing team focused on expanding within their current distribution markets and grew an impressive 31%; nearly 83% of their beer sold was within the state of Missouri.

Later this year, the 4 Hands team will expand to include 1220 Artisan Spirits. “It’s been an exhilarating ride,” says Lemp. “Our team has constructed a very strong foundation over the last 6 years. We can build off of that foundation and create a new brand that doesn’t compete with 4 Hands Brewing Company, but rather complements. This gives us the opportunity to collaborate between the brewery and distillery. It’s a calculated risk.”

1220 Artisan Spirits is inspired by secret societies, free masons, speak easies and sophistication. The brand will launch in April with the release of their year-round gin as well as a house tonic to pair perfectly with their gin. In the months following, they plan to release a line of seasonal gins that highlight locally-sourced ingredients that play nicely with seasonal weather and fare; a barrel-aged gin; an apple brandy aged in used Madagascar barrels; and an amaro. Plans to add a whiskey are forthcoming.

Rob Vossmeyer, certified specialist of spirits, has been appointed as the head distiller for the brand. Vossmeyer earned a General Certificate in Distilling through the Institute of Brewing and Distilling in the UK and has spent time in Scotland, exploring the world of Scotch Whisky. In 2014, he began his time at Tom’s Town Distilling in Kansas City, where he created 3 flagship spirits, as well as a number of one-off distillery only selections. Vossmeyer is currently working toward his diploma in distilling from The Institute of Brewing and Distilling.

Short’s Brewing Company announces production facility expansion and new canning line

Elk Rapids, MI – Short’s Brewing Company announces the expansion of their Elk Rapids production facility. This expansion will include installation of a new canning line, additional fermentation tanks, upgrades to brewing systems, and new office space.

Fueled by strengthening sales in the last half of 2017 and early 2018, Short’s is excited to install a new canning line in April to package current flagship products and new seasonal items in both six packs and 12 packs, including the wildly popular Soft Parade Shandy. The new KHS canner will have the capacity to fill 225 cans per minute alongside additional equipment manufactured by Design Machine Manufacturing, Mumm Products, Arrowhead Conveyance, and Ska Fabricating. The new can filling line was manufactured in the USA and will double the current packaging capacity of the Short’s production facility. The canning line will be accompanied by a 30% increase in fermentation tank capacity which will be commissioned simultaneously with the canner’s startup.

According to the Director of Quality, Tyler Glaze, ”The BFT cellar and this new state of the art can filling line will increase the quality and integrity of our canned products as well as the efficiency of our overall operation. We are currently packaging as fast as we can and this canner will boost our ability to get beer to thirsty people. It’s also a huge point of pride to be able to source an awesome can filling line using machines manufactured in the United States.”

With the production facility expansion, Short’s is in the process of adding at least eight new positions including two new members of the Packaging Team, one new Cellar Worker, one additional Brewer, and one additional Quality Team member. To strengthen their commitment to existing markets, Short’s has also added three new positions to the Sales Team to ensure representation in every state within their current Great Lakes distribution footprint. Short’s has also transitioned their Illinois distribution partnerships to Windy City, RJ Distributing, Koerner Distributor, Hayes Beer Distributing, and Euclid Beverage.

When asked about distribution and sales, Scott Newman-Bale, partner, said “We are delighted at the position and growth throughout our current territory. We are grateful that natural growth is allowing us to focus on making existing markets better rather than having to add a large amount of new territories.”

Financing for the expansion which totalled approximately $2 million was provided by Traverse City State Bank.

Belgium Comes to Cooperstown 2018 announced, Ommegang brings back historical roots

(Cooperstown, NY) – This summer, Brewery Ommegang returns to a page in the history books for their annual beer, food, music, and all-things-fun festival on August 3 and 4 in Cooperstown, NY, theming their annual Belgium Comes to Cooperstown event off the original Ommegang of 1549. Recognized as one of the most bucket list-worthy beer festivals in America, Belgium Comes to Cooperstown offers 3,000 lucky guests the opportunity to taste the very best Belgian beer in the world, including hard-to-find Belgian imports as well as Belgian-inspired beers from the top breweries in North America. The Ommegang, for which the brewery is named, is a renowned festival in the city of Brussels, Belgium. Gourmet food vendors, live music, and a chance to camp under the stars alongside some of the world’s leading brewers and fellow craft beer enthusiasts make the weekend truly unique.

The festivities begin Friday, August 3 at 6pm with a five-course beer-pairing dinner for VIP ticket holders. Ommegang will partner with Sharon Springs, NY neighbors Beekman 1802 farm and mercantile to celebrate their new cookbook, A Seat at the Table, creating a dining experience featuring products from their delicious artisanal food line, expertly paired with Brewery Ommegang beers.

The brewery grounds open at noon on Saturday, August 4 for all General Admission and GA+camping ticket holders. The tasting begins at 2:30 pm for VIP ticket holders and 3:00 pm for General Admission, and ends at 7:00 pm. Live music will be performed on the brewery stage from 3:00 pm until midnight. The brewery will be closed to the public Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 3, 4, and 5, but reopens for regular service on Monday, August 6.

VIP tickets cost $280/person and include two nights of camping on the brewery grounds, Friday evening’s beer pairing dinner, and additional access to the beer tasting on Saturday afternoon. General admission tickets for Saturday’s tasting event cost $115/person, and general admission with camping on Saturday night costs $145/person. Hopworks Chill Murray NEIPA, Love Letter IPA and Ferocious Citrus IPA make debut

Portland, OR – Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB), the first Certified B Corporation brewery in the Pacific Northwest, today announced the upcoming release of three new IPAs. On March 01, HUB will release Ferocious Citrus IPA, Chill Murray New England-Style IPA, and Love Letter New England-Style IPA at its three pubs.

Ferocious Citrus IPA is HUB’s spring and summer seasonal offering. Brewed with organic hard red spring wheat from Twin Oaks Farm on San Juan Island, Ferocious is hazy and smooth with an upfront burst of organic citrusy hops, and grapefruit juice. Take one sip of this crazy IPA and you’ll be hypnotized. Ferocious replaces Abominable Winter Ale in HUB’s seasonal rotation, and is available on draft and in 12oz 6-pack cans throughout HUB’s distribution network.

Chill Murray is the newest beer in HUB’s rotating Hazy IPA series. Look for notes of idiosyncrasy and unpredictability in this New England-Style IPA. Chill Murray was brewed with Skagit Valley soft wheat, organic flaked barley, organic oats, and buckets full of Eureka, Azacca, organic Citra, and organic Galaxy hops. On March 01 the beer will be available on draft and in limited 16oz 4-pack cans at HUB’s three pubs. Only 40 cases of cans were produced. Each 4-pack is $14 and will be distributed as follows: 28 cases for the SE Powell brewpub, 4 cases for BikeBar, and 8 cases for the Vancouver brewpub. Crowlers will be available at HUB’s SE Portland and Vancouver brewpubs.

Love Letter NEIPA is the third beer in HUB’s new Win-Win Partnership Series, which highlights ingredients from fellow eco-champion businesses. The beer is HUB’s love letter to Bob’s Red Mill, as it features Bob’s haze-inducing organic oats, organic wheat, and organic spelt for a velvety, fluffy texture. Galactic Funk Punch: Call to Arms Brewing, Novel Strand Brewing co-brew up a hoppy sour

(Denver, CO) – Call to Arms Brewing Company will release a collaboration with Novel Strand Brewing Company on Saturday, March 10th. Galactic Funk Punch is a sour ale entirely fermented in oak puncheons with Brettanomyces, and incorporates a blend of Galaxy, Mosaic,and Nelson Sauvin hops.

“This is a zero IBU beer that was fermented and soured by at least four different microbes,” said Tamir Danon, owner of Novel Strand Brewing Company. “We wanted to craft an approachable, palate-pleasing sour you can take anywhere.”

At 6.3% ABV, Galactic Funk Punch will bring an initial wave of Brett funk followed by a heady mix of tropical fruit flavors birthed over several months of flirtation between hops and microbes. A dry, fluffy mouthfeel seals the deal and makes this beer so crushable the cans should have a ‘fragile’ sign on them.

This limited edition beer will be available in 16oz 4-pack cans and on draft starting on March 10th in the Call to Arms taproom. Only 100 4-packs will be released at $20 per pack.

“Galactic Funk Punch is a unique ale in the sense that it mixes traditional and modern souring and hopping techniques to produce maximum deliciousness,” said Danon.

Indeed Brewing announces experimental barrel-aging program alongside Whiskey Queen release

(Minneapolis, MN) – Indeed Brewing is excited to share details about its innovative and experimental barrel-aging program in conjunction with the release of Whiskey Queen, an imperial stout aged in whiskey barrels for 10 months.

Indeed has worked extensively with barrel-aged beers for the last few years, in order to produce its Wooden Soul series of sour and wild beers, as well as the annual aging of its two barrel-aged imperial stouts. The new barrel-aging program will start by seeking to age some of Indeed’s existing beers for an extended period, but the direction will develop over time.

“This program will look to make the barrel just as important as the beer’s initial yeast and malt choices,” says brewer Chris Silber, who is leading the project. “We are sourcing only the freshest local and regional spirit and wine barrels that will complement our existing beer lines. Eventually, we’re hoping to make new recipes that keep the barrel’s flavor in mind when choosing the malt and hop bill.”

Silber, a former distiller, brings an extensive knowledge of spirits and barrel-aging to the fledgling program. Not wanting to spill too many details, he says the public will hear more in the late summer and early fall of 2018.

Whiskey Queen Imperial Stout, a limited draft-only offering, began arriving at tap towers in the Twin Cities and beyond yesterday. Crooked Hammock Brewery announces 2018 beer release calendar

Twelve Seasonal and Limited Release Beers to be Unleashed This Year

Lewes, DE – To much anticipation, Crooked Hammock Brewery dropped their beer calendar via social media with a tremendous response. Becoming a popular destination amongst locals as well as tourists flocking to the Delaware beaches, Crooked Hammock Brewery is celebrating its third year brewing delicious craft beer.

While carrying five year-round beers, Crooked Hammock plans to release twelve of their most popular beers including four seasonal and eight limited release offerings. Their two most popular flagship beers, Mootzy’s Treasure IPA and Wai Ola Cali-Style Coconut Ale, will be available in cans and distributed throughout the state of Delaware on a year-round basis.

“We’re really excited to announce our beer calendar for 2018,” explained Rich Garrahan, founder of Crooked Hammock Brewery. “We saw a ton of success last year with each of these beers and we feel confident in each and every one to be served throughout the year in our house as well as in bars and stores throughout the state of Delaware.”

Kicking off the first limited release from Crooked Hammock will be their Belgian Quadruple brewed with fresh banana and cacao nibs, Banana Hammock. At fifteen percent, this beer has the highest alcohol content of any beer released by Crooked Hammock, which is typically known for their sessionable ales. “Banana Hammock is a fun beer to brew that is not only unique but true to style in both the brew method as well as flavor,” explains Head Brewer, Chris Wood. Other limited releases include their 4/20 beer, The Dankness; Beach Escape, a citrusy White IPA; Surfveza, a key lime hefeweizen for Cinco de Mayo; a summer solstice Gluten-free Acai Gose; Off You Rocker, a Double IPA with Citra and Mosaic hops; Olde
Butternutz, a bourbon-barrel-aged English Ale; and Jubilation, their holiday Champagne Ale.

The first seasonal release of 2018 will occur on March 23rd when Hand of Buddha Cream Ale makes its debut. “This beer is the epitome of what we try to do at Crooked Hammock,” explains Jon Schorah, Brewer and Brand Manager at the Hammock. “Brewed with Buddha’s Hand fruit and Madagascar vanilla beans, it’s refreshing, light, sessionable, and really unique.” The beer was one of their fastest selling beers in 2017, leading the brew team to brew three times the amount this year.

The summer season will kick into full gear on May 24th at Crooked Hammock as their summer seasonal, Actively Fishing, a Czech Pilsner brewed with lemon peel and noble hops, is released for “Beach Escape Weekend.” “Memorial Day weekend is one of the biggest weekends for us at the Hammock and highlighting everything going on will be the release of both Actively Fishing and Beach Escape White IPA,” says Garrahan.

As we enter the cooler months, Crooked Hammock’s infamous pumpkin ale, Jav-O-Lantern, will make its way onto the scene. Jav-O-Lantern combines fall spices, real pumpkin that was smoked for hours over cherry wood, and dark roasted coffee for a bold and complex fall brew.

Rounding out the Hammock seasonals will be Sly and the Cherry Stone, a kettle sour that combines tart cherry juice and Mahleb, an exotic Mediterranean spice derived from cherry pits. One of the more popular beers Crooked Hammock has to offer, this bold winter sour comes in at eleven percent alcohol and is purely refreshing.

Each of the beers listed on their calendar will be distributed in kegs throughout the state of Delaware. Mootzy’s Treasure IPA and Wai Ola Cali-Style Coconut Ale will be featured in sixpacks of twelve-ounce cans throughout the year while each seasonal beer will be released in cans for their coinciding season.
